Welcome to The Daily RoundUp where we’re less concerned with being daily and more concerned with the news of the day. Today is August 15th and…

Supervive – the hero shooting, MOBA style, battle royale – is currently going through a free hunter weekend until this Sunday, August 17th.

After officially going into 1.0 on July 24th, having reinvigorated most of its core gameplay and with new characters on the way, Supervive is freeing up all their characters to entice new players. I sincerely hope it works.

Supervive has consistently been one of the more interesting genre mixes since its initial launch last year, combining the teamfighting of MOBAs with the chaotic risk reward nature of the battle royal. I have found it to be a great time on the occasions that I have played it but it does seem to have struggled with player retention.

The last year saw player numbers drop considerably and, despite seeing a boost on 1.0s launch, it is already back on the decline.

I would not expect Supervive to see a large playerbase – it is a strange mix of genres and is competing with some of the biggest games on the planet. However, it seems like a game that could garner a smaller but consistent amount of support.

My hopes go out to the developers that they see a positive swing from this weekend and can celebrate their launch and new roster additions.

I will have to find some time this weekend to squeeze in some games and I would recommend you do the same.
